Stunning Holiday Location

¡Parc national edes Cévennes (Cevennes National Park)

South of France

August in the South of France, 2 weeks to be precise … I was inspired by the natural wonders of the Cenvennes National Parc.

Panoramic view at Le Pompidou from the side of the road

Every day, I parked on the edge of precarious mountain roads to take photos of vast landscapes.

These bathers weren’t visible from the road. Only when we parked and looked over the edge did I see them.

I climbed over boulders three times my size to capture the movement of water glittering in the pools in the rivers and crashing down cascades.

The Runes area is one of the most traditional of Mont Lozère with a large mountain dotted with granite blocks. The waterfall towers 58m above the Miral River at the entrance to the hamlet of Runes. Walk along a steep path (approx 40 minute walk

I sought the way the light fell on the pine trees along the ridge at sunrise and sunset.

I caught the clouds moving up from the valleys in all weathers and witnessed lightening streak across the sky in a two day thunderstorm.  I awoke at 3 am and watched the stars sparkling in the blackness of the night.

Magical view of clouds capturing the evening light.

The flora and fauna in and around the village were stunning subject matter.

I’ve never pretended to be the most proficient landscape photographer but being immersed in such beauty sparked my imagination and inspired a series of self portraits … I’ve saved them for another blog.
