Exploring the Cévennes National Park - France

Le Pont de Montvert is located in the heart of the Parc National des Cévennes. The village sits at the base of the south-facing slopes of Mont Lozère, the highest peak in the Cévennes.

It offers some stunning natural scenery and is covered by coniferous forest and 'broom' scrub moorland. I have been visiting this part of France on and off for the past ten years. This visit was the first since lockdown and the first time staying in the Lozère region.

Our house was in Le Viala, a hamlet just outside the village. Perched high on the granite hillside, the view across the river towards the top of the mountains was spectacular.

Over 2 weeks I caught the clouds at sunrise and sunset. I captured the flora and fauna of the region. I was fascinated by the light and shadow and textures both natural and man-made. I was inspired to photograph myself in the landscape, influenced by the landscape.

My gallery of images is intended to give a little of the flavour of this wild and magical place. A place that gets under your skin. A place I will return to again and again.
